Stetson Bennet, From Walk On To Champion

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

Growing up Stetson Bennet was a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan. His whole life he said that he was going to be the starting quarterback for the team. Going into college he was a 2-star recruit out of 5 and had no college offers. The 23-year-old quarterback began his Football career as a walk-on at the University of Georgia in 2017 before transferring to Jones Junior College. Bennett then returned to Georgia in 2019 on scholarship and started each of the last two seasons as a backup before winning the starting job after J.T. Daniels got injured. No one believed in Stetson when he became the starter. Many doubted that he was good enough for the talented Bulldogs. Many fans were even angered at Coach Smart for keeping him at starter even after 5 Star J.T. Daniels was healthy to return. Stetson worked and worked every day to get better and show that he was even better than J.T. Daniels. Then the starting quarterback got injured and it was his time to shine. Stetson had an outstanding season. The only game that Stetson had struggles it was the game against Alabama in the SEC Championship He would go 10-1 only losing that 1 game to Alabama. But then going on to beat them in the Crimson Tide National Championship and sealing any doubt about him. I think that Stetson will have an even better year in 2022 if he gets the start over J.T. Daniels. Thank you for reading this article and I hope that you enjoyed it.
