The Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani just recently signed a record breaking deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The LA club and Ohtani reached a deal of $700 million for 10 years for his contract. The 29 year old had a record breaking season in 2023 and is looking to carry that into the 2024 season with his new team. The Oshu native will undergo Tommy John surgery in the near future and we will be very disappointed to possibly go 2 years without watching Ohtani pitch. Shortly after signing the contract Ohtani chose to defer $680 Million dollars until the end of the contract. Dodgers' manager, Dave Roberts, expressed his excitement about the signing, stating, "Shohei Ohtani is a generational talent, and having him in Dodger blue is a dream come true. His versatility and skill set will undoubtedly elevate our team to new heights, and we can't wait to see what he brings to the table."
Ohtani addressed the media during a press conference, saying, "I am honored to be a part of the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is a team with a rich history and a passionate fan base, and I am eager to contribute in any way I can. I look forward to the challenges ahead and helping the Dodgers bring another championship to Los Angeles."
